This year we will be welcoming the Heythrop Hunt to Agria Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials. Heythrop  Hunt, formerly part of the Duke of Beaufort’s hunt, gained its independence in 1835 under the Mastership of Lord Redesdale. The Heythrop has hunted three or four days a week ever since and the Hunt Staff continue to wear the Beaufort livery of green to mark the previous association.

About Heythrop Hunt

Here today you see Chris Woodward parading the bitch pack, he is in his second season as Kennel Huntsman of the Heythrop, having previously hunted the Wynnstay hounds and prior to that he whipped-in at the Warwickshire. He is ably assisted by Archie Bramwell, who is also in his second season. Archie was born and bred in the Heythrop country and worked in kennels in 2019, after a spell with the Cattistock Hunt, he now returns as whipper in to the Heythrop.

The dog hounds are hunted by one of the Masters, Charles Frampton, on a Thursday. Nessie Chanter, Christopher Cox, Jessica Fleming, Ed Daniels, Charlie Higson and Charles Lloyd make up the remaining team of 7 masters.

The Heythrop Hunt Country covers a significant part of Oxforshire and Gloucestershire and is a mixture of pasture and arable, crossed mainly by jumping hedges and timber. It is lucky to have the backing and support of some wonderful farmers whose generosity they rely on. They would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the farmers and landowners, including the Duke of Marlborough, for all their support in allowing trail hunting across their land.

The Hunt forms an intrinsic part of the local community with an active Supporters Club and a full calendar of events throughout the year including a large Hunt Ball, Puppy Show, Farmers Market and Open Day. Please do get in touch if you would like to join their Supporters Club
