On Thursday, the prestigious Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials hosted the RoR Showing Series Qualifier. The series showcases the incredible versatility and elegance of retrained racehorses, as they compete for sought after spots in the National Finals at Aintree in 2025. Spectators were treated to an impressive display demonstrating newfound skills and elegance beyond the racetrack. In the stunning estate of Blenheim Palace, it was a celebration of dedication, hard work, and the next careers for these magnificent horses.

Winner of the Open In Hand was 6-year-old bay gelding, Star Caliber shown by Barry Smith.  Barry’s wife used to ride him out when in training and just over a year ago he came to the family. “This is his first season showing and he loves it” said Barry, “We are so pleased with him.”

The Tattersalls RoR Novice Ridden class followed and top spot was taken by Captain Simon shown by owner Katherine Wood. Captain Simon has been owned by Katherine for five years and they have been dabbling in showing for about the last three. “Yesterday was our first win at a very competitive show. He is a very chilled, laid-back horse at home and at shows. Our main aim is to place at Aintree next year or possibly Hickstead. He’s a class horse and I couldn’t have a better best friend; he will be with me for ever!”

Amateur Ridden was won by Madelaine Cantrill on Robin Roe.

The Open Ridden Class top place was Jasean Spraggett and Caraghann.
